Catherington is a village on the higher ground to the south-west of Clanfield, above Horndean. It has retained a distinct rural village feel with a village pond, the medieval church of All Saints reached through a lychgate, and Catherington Lane winding through the centre.
Catherington Down, a chalk grassland nature reserve, rises behind the village and is reached on foot from opposite The Farmer Inn — a favourite spot for walkers and for the wildflowers and butterflies of the down. The village hall and infant school serve the local community.
Catherington lies between Clanfield and Horndean and shares the PO8 postcode area.
