A quiet downland hamlet south-east of Clanfield, part of the Clanfield and Finchdean ward.
Finchdean is a small hamlet south-east of Clanfield, giving its name to the Clanfield and Finchdean ward of East Hampshire District Council. It is a quiet cluster of cottages set in a fold of the downs, with a former chapel and a traditional K6 telephone kiosk among its features.
The surrounding countryside, including Old Idsworth and the fields towards Rowlands Castle, is criss-crossed with footpaths and bridleways. Finchdean sits close to the railway line, and the nearest stations for the area are at Rowlands Castle and Petersfield.
Together with Clanfield, Finchdean is represented by two district councillors on East Hampshire District Council.
