New Clanfield

The modern village — most shops, services and schools, built up since the 1960s around Drift Road, South Lane and White Dirt Lane.

New Clanfield is the modern part of the village, largely built from the 1960s onwards. Where old Clanfield has been settled for centuries, new Clanfield has grown over roughly the last sixty years, and continued housing development took the parish population to 6,015 at the 2021 census — a 30% rise on 2011.

This is where most of Clanfield's day-to-day amenities are found. The Drift Road, South Lane and Green Lane parades hold the village shops, cafés, takeaways, salons, the pharmacy and estate agents, while White Dirt Lane has the Co-op convenience store, the Post Office and The Clanfield Practice GP surgery. Petersgate Infant School serves this side of the village.

The Clanfield Sports and Community Centre on Endal Way, which opened in 2019, and a park near the sports centre give the newer estates their own community focus alongside the older Memorial Hall in South Lane.
